ISA places a high priority on the security of private information. We have developed this policy to inform you of how we manage your personal information and the information that is transmitted across the network and maintain its integrity and security.
ISA is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 and must comply with the National Privacy Principles.
You can find more information about the Privacy Act and the National Privacy Principles on the Federal Privacy Commissioner’s website at http://www.privacy.gov.au/.
If, on reading this policy, you would like more information please contact MMEx.
All interactions with MMEx are carried out over encrypted connections. Once received on the server, the message and attachments are encrypted. Message text and attachments are never stored in clear text. The process of encryption actually takes place on a separate server that is not visible to the outside world. This protects the private keys that are used in the encryption process.
Access to a person’s messages is via a username and password. Records are kept of logons to the system that includes time and location. High levels of failed logon attempts are also recorded.
Although not a requirement, MMEx will deliver messages that are digitally signed or encrypted using public key encryption certificates (like the HeSA/Medicare keys for example). Digital signatures are required in some instances by Medicare for referrals and so this can be done and the message sent via MMEx.
Deletion of messages is controlled by the sender and recipients. No restriction has been placed on the length of time messages may remain on MMex servers, however policy may be set to delete the messages automatically after a set time after the message being read or downloaded.
As part of the registration for MMEx, information is collected about individuals which includes:
Name Address Email address Phone numbers Organisation affiliations These details are used in the MMEx address book for the purposes of participants being able to contact each other. This information will not be passed on to third parties.
