Shortcut Management

Shortcuts are used only in Progress notes on a patient file.

Personal Shortcuts

In the left side menu option Settings, you will find the link to My Shortcut Management\\.
This will open your personal shortcut management screen.

Click on the Create User Shortcut button.
You will see two fields:

  • Input Text - the shortcut that you will type into your progress notes
  • Output Text - the expanded text that will replace the shortcut when you click on Replace Shortcuts.

Click OK.

This list is a customised, personal shortcut list and the items within will not be available to any other user. Where a short cut is a duplicate of an organisation configured shortcut, the user level shortcut will be inserted.

Organisation Shortcuts

In the Organisation Centre, on the Shortcut Management Tab you will be able to create shortcuts for all users to use.

Click on the Create Organisational Shortcut button.
You will see two fields:

  • Input Text - the shortcut that you will type into your progress notes;
  • Output Text - the expanded text that will replace the shortcut when you click on Replace Shortcuts.

This list of shortcuts will be available to users at that organisation.
As your users cannot view this list, you should advise users of the shortcuts available to them via an internal process. (Consider a PDF uploaded to the reference list)

Using Shortcuts

In the Progress Note field on the Clinical Summary, type in a shortcut that has been configured.
Click on Replace Shortcuts

Any shortcuts in your progress note will be replaced by the configured Output Text.

Where shortcuts using the same input text are configured at both personal and organisational level, the user's personal shortcut will be the one used when generating the output text.
