Medisecure - Electronic Prescriptions

MediSecure

MMEx is integrated with standards-conformant electronic prescription exchange service, Medisecure. Medisecure supports:

  • improved dispensing speed and accuracy
  • organisations to be comply with state-based prescription monitoring legislation such as Safe Scripts in Victoria
  • sharing of prescriptions electronically with Pharmacists
  • sharing of prescription,dispense and supply records with My Health Record

There are two configuration options for your organisation:

Electronic Prescriptions for all patients

If your organisation is subscribed to Medisecure and has configured the setting to send electronic prescriptions for all patients, you will see:

  • a barcode printed on all prescriptions

  • and a status column on the Medication-Scripts view that displays the status of the electronic prescription.

Electronic Prescriptions only for consenting patients

If your organisation is subscribed to Medisecure and has configured the setting to require an individual patient consent to be recorded prior to electronic prescriptions being sent, you will see:

  • an alert on the prescription pop up advising that the prescription will not be sent as the patient doesn't have a specific consent for this recorded.

Where a consent is recorded, you will see:

  • a barcode printed on all prescriptions
  • and a status column on the Medication-Scripts view that displays the status of the electronic prescription

as shown above.

You will need to add a consent for this information to the patient record.
